About Us

Gulf Foods has been delivering the best ingredients to Waiheke’s bars, cafes, restaurants (and more) since 1996, that’s a long time! It’s been through a few different hands over the years, but these days, it is owned by three local families; Alex & Shekinah, Mark & Vivian and Mark & Kate.

Alex’s dad actually ran the business many moons ago and he has vivid memories of spending hours in the passenger seat as his dad delivered island-wide. These days he is our General Manager and does an incredible job making sure we deliver – in all senses of the word.

Between our three families, we have 9 children, all at school on the island. It’s a lot of hungry mouths to feed and we knew we’d love to be able to buy the kind of products Gulf Foods had stacked in the warehouse and chiller so have made it our mission to make them available to all. Our first store on Beatty Parade went so well that when we moved to our new premises on Tahi Rd, we dedicated over half the ground floor to our Foodstore. It also gave us the space to be able to provide ingredients in bulk so that customers could BYO containers and each reduce our plastic footprint. It’s been incredibly well-received. We love being able to feed our families and the island with good, wholesome ingredients.
